STAND BY ME

The Stand By Me Motown Show will take you on a journey back in time when music and life was simpler, when soul was SOUL and R&B was actually about "Rhythm and Blues". The Motown artists of that era captured the heart-felt blues and rock-and-roll of the previous generation and added an unmistakable groove so funky that it would live on for generations to come.
The show consists of 10 of Sydney's most dynamic vocalists and musicians. Under the guidance of a music director, the show members have worked tirelessly to reproduce the Motown groove and stay true to the original sound of the founding artists.

Brad Cole is a popular modern contemporary country music artist with a broadly appealing brand of music. He embellishes a ‘cool’, ‘vibrant’ and ‘fresh’ brand of country music. His album touts a world class level of music production. From a live perspective he is a dynamic showman and quoted by some as the Robbie Williams of Australian country music. Dani Karis is a refreshing and talented addition to the Sydney live music scene and together with local Bundeena boys including Tony Wilson, Phil Gissing, Dennis, and Chester, form local musical sensation Moth Jam. Self-written material with thought-provoking ,meaningful lyrics provide a light-hearted twist on life and a fun musical experience.

Throughout her career Sally King has constantly “knocked out” crowds with her infectious enthusiasm for good time rhythm ‘n’ blues and sweet soul music. When Sally takes to the stage it doesn’t take long to realise that it’s time for some serious fun! Not only can Sally belt out a stirring rendition of a heart-felt blues number or get the dance floor jumping with an up-tempo Motown beat, she really loves to perform. Sally brings to her performance a wealth of experience and influences. Her parents were instrumental in getting the Sydney Jazz Club off and running back in the 1950’s. As a child, alongside sisters Vivian, Bridie, Madeleine and Fiona, Sally listened to a rich variety of jazz, blues and gospel music. Her inspiration came from such greats as Mahalia Jackson, Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey and Aretha Franklin.

WOLFTONES

Chris Turner & The Wolftones are appearing for the first time at our 2010 Festival. They will be onstage at mid-day and will perform songs and tunes from their album “No Bollocks – Just Rock”.
The Wolftones have been together for almost fifteen years working around Sydney & NSW. The current line up is Chop Tone Charlie on bass, Cock Robin Jackson on Guitar, Mick O’Shea on thunder drums and of course Chris Turner on guitar and vocals.
Chris Turner performed in many bands including Buffalo, Rose Tattoo, Stevie Wright and Jeff St John. He has toured the UK, Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines and Vietnam.
