The picture-perfect villages of Bundeena and Maianbar provide homes and inspiration for well over 150 artists, photographers, sculptors and craftsfolk . With diverse backgrounds , fascinating life journeys and unique responses to their stunning natural environments, they enrich our cultural life.

Visitors to the popular Bundeena-Maianbar Art Trail , where some of those artists open their studios regularly to visitors, will be well aware of the high quality of the work on display. Those who have yet to "do the trail" can sample the locals' work by visiting the Art of Living Festival Art Exhibition.

In 2010 the exhibition celebrates its 15th year, and again almost 150 local artists have been invited to participate.

Artists exhibiting this year include Garry Shead (Archibald Prize and Dobell Drawing Prize Winner), Bob Marchant (two-time Sulman Prize Winner) and Jiawei Shen (Sulman Prize Winner, Mary McKillop Prizewinner), Robert Wilson’s treasured landscapes, as well as other vibrant artists. Glass artist Julie Mellae is creating “molten magic”, Lee Bethel explores “the grid”, Leanne Thompson eclectically paints, draws and prints, whilst lovers of ceramics hurry to purchase works by renowned potter Renate de Lambert.

FEATURE EMERGING ARTIST: IKE GLATZ

The Festival is delighted this year to highlight the work of Ike Glatz, whose fresh take on linkages between graphic design, linemaking and collage has delighted regular, new and younger audiences.

Not only can one find textile influences in Ike’s work, but also organically grown abstract lines, developed by movement, reactions and impulsive momentum, sometimes digitally cultivated and redeveloped in a very graphical style. Media used by Ike include pencils, markers, oil pastels, paper, fabric, her computer and her sewing machine. Ike moved to Bundeena with her family beginning of 2009 and enjoys the inspiring setting of this creative village.
